Demo ProZerver System is Available

Through automatic redundancy, a ProZerver system can have very high data-availability, and still be easy to configure and operate.

A Demo system is available at demo.zerver.com.

(Note -- when the demo system is between availability-times, the above link may lead back to this web site's opening page, rather than just hang.)

Public shares on this system are accessible to anyone using web-access. To access the admin web pages, a userid and password are needed. Please use the info from the Contact page, and such an admin-web-access userid can be provided.

Notes --

A Zerver can use up to 4 CPU (Intel/AMD/compatible), up to 4GB RAM and a range of disk-interfaces types -- SATA, SCSI, IDE, and/or USB. The demo system illustrates the other end of the scale, using a single modest CPU and 2 IDE channels. With 512 MB RAM, responsiveness is still very good.

Even this relatively low-level hardware illustrates data redundancy, with high data-availability, since the two disk drives can be configured as a mirror Raid-Group, and any data in this Raid-Group can be backed-up with SmartMirror to another ProZerver on a schedule of monthly, weekly, daily, or more often.

The admin web-pages are intended to be focused on simple configuration and reliable operation. Each web-page has a link to extensive help-information.

The web-interface is very simple. JavaScript, Java, and Cookies are not needed.

Any data on this system is for demo purposes only. Any existing Raid-Group can be taken off-line, halted, the device partitions deleted, and another Raid-Group created. Additional users can be created and share-permissions allocated.

The Demo System is behind an NAT-Network-Address-Translation firewall, so the network configuration pages show an IP address which is different from that used for external access. Generally, ProZerver network configuration values can be changed and can take effect immediately -- very few configuration changes require a reboot. However, behind an Address-Translation firewall, a change of IP address will make the demo system unreachable from outside.

If you modify the attributes of the userid that you are using to take away admin web-page privilege, you may not be able to reverse that.

If there is more than one person manipulating the system at a time, you may get messages about "Unexpected time-stamp on config file" with an explanation about possible multi-admin conflicts.

If the demo system is unresponsive or appears to be in an un-usable state, please use the Contact web-page info to let us know. Also, if you have questions. Also, if you want to place an order.
