"v1.0.6" -- Config-Save and Config-Restore Release v1.0.6 is now available for use in ZerverModule(tm) and ProZerver systems. A new facility has been added in which the critical configuration files held in flash memory are combined, encrypted, and then saved within the file-system of a Raid-Group. Thus the detail work of defining shares and attributes, local userid, access permission, and SmartMirror task details are saved in a way that allows -- Recovery if the flash memory should fail, Recovery if the flash memory and mainboard should fail, leaving the Raid-Group intact and usable, Recovery if the flash memory, mainboard, and Raid-Group are all lost, but the Raid-Group is backed-up by Zerver-Pair or SmartMirror operation to another Zerver, Recovery if all the hardware is just fine, but there has been inexpert choices by admin that should be undone. Without this capabilitiy, full recovery from a disaster might be seriously delayed by the time needed to re-configure the replacement hardware. With this capability, after the Raid-Group is connected to the replacement hardware (or the time has come for the backup hardware to be promoted to primary), the admin selects the File containing the Config-Save backup needed, and performs a restore and reboot. The system will boot-up with all of the userid, share-definitions, SmartMirror tasks, and system config choices that had been in effect when the Config-Save file was written. December 26, 2007
